Lorenz, graduate of the University of North Dakota, delivers the first public sneak-peek of his program CONCERTO in the chandeliered 1919 Lounge, with seating on the Empire Arts Center’s main stage. Matthew J. Lorenz is rising to prominence as a pianist in the American Midwest, aiming to usher the art of piano performance into the 21st century. 

Matthew began his studies in Fargo, North Dakota with Susan Nagel at the age of 9. While studying with Nariaki Sugiura at the University of North Dakota, he made his debut in 2015-16 performing Liszt’s concerto Totentanz with 3 different local orchestras. (Matthew earned a master’s degree in mathematics while at UND, too.)

Currently based in Chicago, IL, he is engaged in solo performances and frequent collaborations. Finalizing a Performance Diploma at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, he is studying with the preeminent American pianist Adam Neiman.

Matthew J Lorenz continues to grow his artistic presence in the American Midwest and the international stage at large.
